The Case for short words
It is very interesting to learn how to write with short words without feeling the
pressure to look smart or very intellectual. I love to write in Spanish and that is
why I decided to study communications. However, when I write in English I
always feel that something is missing or confusing and that my message is not
very clear. Lederer explained how easy it is to write with short words and that is
when I noticed the different techniques of writing that I am able to use. It also
made me think that I need to create a habit of reading. This way I will be able to
write better essays or journals and learn from other authors how to do it correctly.
This was an interesting essay to read. I think that Richard Lederers essay made
me understand the simplest way to write yet, it may be good to use big words
when necessary. Short words never fail you, at least that is the message I
received after this reading.
