Subject: Possible exposure to filovirus/Ebola

Hello Peter,
I hope you are having a pleasant day. I would like to respectfully inform you about a dire
situation that may affect both of us. While examining the monkey samples that came from
Reston with the electron microscope, I believe I discovered a filovirus that closely resembles
Ebola. On its own, this is unsettling news because it could imply the entire Reston Primate
Quarantine Unit could be teeming with the Ebola virus, or something very similar to it. However,
if you recall, we both inhaled the sample in order to try and detect any odor in it. Ebola is not
known to be airborne, yet there is a chance that we are either infected with Ebola, or have a very
high chance of incubating Ebola in our bodies.
Thank you for considering the situation; I would like to hear what you recommend we do next.
Sincerely,
Tom Geisbert
USAMRIID Intern in charge of the Electron Microscope
