Goat: an agile animal with hollow horns. ‘Sheep: a mammal that grows a woolly fleece and eat grass. Grassland: farmland used for grazing oc pasture. Graze: to feed on growing grass or other plans, as cattle or sheep. Sustainable: capable of been maintained without exhausting natural resources or causing ecological damage, Ecosystem: a system formed by living things, their environment, and the relationship between them. Environment: conditions or circumstances that influence the life of an individual or community ‘Mytown. Cortegana is a town in the south west of Spain, in Andalucia. I's got a population of about 5000 people and there are a lot of beautiful trees around it. There is also a river called Chanza that isa tributary of Guadiana and flows from here to the Portuguese border, and there are green ‘muntains and plains that form our ecosystem. All of this colorfull landscape is transforming by the interaction of man with the environment in order to take advantage of its resources and at the same ‘time assuring the survival of the flora and fauna in a sustainable way, ‘The oaks and cork trees occupy the greater part of the lands in Cortegana creating a zone of woodlands and grasstands called dehesa grazed by iberian pigs, goats, sheep and cattle. So the ‘ain uses of this are the fattening of pigs and harvesting of cork every nine years. Deciduous forests are also found here; thé principal exemple ofthis i the chestnut tres, Finally river forests of black poplars, poplars ,alders and willows flourish along the Chanza river. Apart from the natural resources we are home fo an important cultural heritage: the most important landmark is our castle, but we also have the chapel of Nuestra seitora de la Piedad, the church of Divino Salvador, the chapel of San Sebastian and the chapel at Calvario. There are other buildings in the town as the bullring, the two casinos and several stately homes. Cortegana has a grand reputation for industry and handicrafts. There are three meat rocessirig plants, two factories of freneria, horse equipment, and roman balances (Romanas). There are also some local pottery workshops here. Finally we must mention the cork industry and manufacturing ‘school. = TES San José has got two main buildings, the old one was built in the 60' last century and it, ‘hosts the professional studies classrooms. The new building opened in 2006 and it is situated next to the primary school buildings. The students of ESO and Bachillerato attend classes here. Accommodation comprises classrooms, a library, a gymnasium, staffrooms, administrative office, a canteen, laboratory, music and art classrooms, an ICT classroom and the schoolyard surrounding the building. This is a comprenhensive secondary and high school with about 400 students aged 11 to 18 (We also teach adult students in our ESPA section and proffesional studies). Our staff of teachers consist of about 50 teachers organised in the different departments. Classroom assistants for gypsies students and laboral personal complete the team of professionals. We have two groups for each level from 1* of ESO to 2™ of Bachillerato, most of the groups are of mixed abilities and in some ‘lasses we have children of special needs integrated with the other students; most of them come from middle -class families and live in our town and other near it. In addition some students can do professional studies including Woodland works, Sport activities in the natural environment and ICT studies. Finally, we participate in different proyects such as the compensatory school or peace schools, but we don’t belong to the bilingual schools proyect.
