Point of View

This story is told in the point of view of Scout throughout the entire book. We do not get
to look at what is going through the mind of other characters like Atticus or Jem, however, Scout
does provide a lot of detail in describing major events in the story, like the trial and end of the
book when Bob Ewell attacks Jem and Scout. The story is told during a time of racism and
World War II so there is a lot of persecution going on around the world and Maycomb. Scout is
growing up fast and she is having an internal conflict with herself about what is right and what is
wrong. We are able to see two different views about the subject through the mind of Scout.
