Intramural Floor Hockey League

The Team
History:
Rapp Rapp City Mitch is new on the scene for 2012. Previously three
members (Zack Morris, Matt Rapp and Mitch Lewis) belonged to another
intramural team (Dogs in a Bathtub). 2012 Slippery Rock graduate Eric
Brantner ran this team. Dogs in a Bathtub had been in Slippery Rocks
intramural floor and roller hockey leagues since 2003 with a rich history
of winning. Winning the championships in both in 2005, 2008, and
2010 seasons. Upon Brantners departure of Slippery Rock University,
Matt Rapp decided to take the team into his hands, along with current
teammate Mitch Lewis, they came together to form Rapp Rapp City
Mitch. What does this mean? Rapp Rapp City Mitch is a parody based
off a rapper named Tyga and his song Rack City. This is Rapp Rapp
City Mitchs first season in the intramural floor league adding many new
players to the roster for 2012 season.

Highlights:
New on the season, sophomore goalie Connor DeAugustine, playing
his first year of floor hockey, and first season as a hockey goalie.
DeAugustine has been a lacrosse goalie for the past 8 years of his
life, while also playing baseball. In addition, sophomore Taylor Shea
coming off of playing ice hockey throughout his high school career.
Taylor brings big size and a great ability to shoot the ball. Also new to
Rapp Rapp City Mitch this year junior Sean Simpson. Sean is anything
but new to the sport of hockey. Sean brings amazing
stick handling skills, as well as one of the best wrist
5
shots in intramural hockey and Slippery Rock hockey.
Sean has played in numerous floor and roller hockey
tournaments as well as for Slippery Rocks D2 Tier 1

team. Lastly, Zach Rapp is the final new member to the 2012 roster. Zach,
now a freshman at Slippery Rock University brings with him his fast speed
with the ability to dangle through the defenseman. Zach, Matts brother
has played hockey his entire life. Although he is smaller in size, he is a
huge threat on the rink. Zach currently plays hockey for the Slippery Rock
D2 Tier 2 team, with the hopes of making it into the World Juniors for
roller hockey.
By adding this core of greatly talented players, Rapp City Mitch had
a very strong year. They made it into the playoffs finishing the regular
season at 5-1 with an average of 8.0 goals per game. Goalie Connor

the first period alone. By the end of the first period it was a 5-5 game.
During the second period, due to the lack of subs Rapp Rapp City Mitch
was getting tired. Penalties began setting in, and the Crank Yankers were
capitalizing. Scoring two powerplay goals in the period they had the lead
over Rapp Rapp City Mitch 8-5 going into the third period. However,
Rapp Rapp City Mitch was not done. Quickly scoring two goals from
Mitch Lewis and Sean Simpson put them right back in the game, making
it 7-7. It appeared as though they would comeback. However, the Crank
Yankers with just 18 scored a fluke goal as the ball was batted in to the
net by a glove, past goaltender Connor DeAugustine, giving the Crank
Yankers an 8-7 lead, and an 8-7 win.
Despite the loss Rapp Rapp City Mitch did not hold their heads, as they
knew their task was great. For coming into this game, two men down
against a great team they played very solid. Led by their cofounders
and co-captains Matt Rapp and Mitch Lewis, this proved to be a very
successful first season for Rapp Rapp City Mitch. With the 2012 intramural
floor hockey season in the books, they now look onward to roller hockey
season. Rapp Rapp City Mitch will go into the roller hockey season with
the exact same roster, and look to win their first championship as a team.
Overall, the 2012 inaugural season of Rapp Rapp City Mitch proved to be
a huge success, as they continue to build, grow and develop as team to
make a run at the Slippery Rock intramural championship.
