Dear Mr. President:
In light of the barbaric terrorist attacks in Paris, I beg you to reconsider your administration's current national
security strategy to confront the threat of ISIS and other terror organizations. Together with our allies and
willing world partners, we must dramatically enhance our engagement with the enemy to accomplish one clear
objective — to immediately destroy ISIS and its partners in terror.
It is with a deep understanding of the solemn responsibility before you, and with a great respect for the Office
of the Presidency and the awesome responsibility you hold as commander-in-chief, that I implore you to
reconsider your current strategy, We must not seek to merely contain the enemy, but to destroy it by any
‘means necessary.
I would also call on the White House to officially halt its crusade to close the
transfer detainees to American soil.
nat Guantanamo Bay and
Guantanamo is currently home to 107 terrorist inmates arrested in connection with the U.S. war on terror,
including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed the mastermind of the September I1 attacks. Bringing enemy
combatants into the U.S. is reckless and will only embolden the enemies of freedom who wish to do us harm,
Last week, both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate overwhelmingly approved a bipartisan military
defense bill that would ban the transfer of prisoners to the U.S. even for prosecution. However, your press
secretary was quick to dismiss the measure, saying it would not have "any material impact" on the
administration's plan to shut down the detention facility. This plan is dangerous and it needs to stop now.
Ata time when terrorism continues to spread throughout the world, we must remain resolved to defeat it. The
stakes are too high to jeopardize Americans’ security for the sake of enhancing a personal legacy. Let's once
and for all put an end to these discussions and instead focus all of our attention on defeating and destroying
IsIs.
e much respect,
David W. Jolly
