Referencing

Common knowledge: refers to information that could


reasonably understood or known to the majority of people. For
example; the earth is the third planet from the sun
Not Common Knowledge: refers to information that is not
generally understood or known to the majority of people. For
example; Earth consists of 30% land mass and 70% water. Must
be referenced
Quoting: Repeating someones work directly. Quotation marks.
In-text referencing: Refers to information in a textbook and
putting it into your own work. Must be referenced. The light
gathering power of a telescope is determine by the size and
diameter of the telescope (Giancoli, 2005, pg.707)
In-text referencing Terms: Instead of saying Giancoli said
we can use suggest, highlight, argue, imply, support, indicate
or demonstrate.
