2. volts/div- this control lets you change how many volts are represented by
each vertical increment of grid overlay on the screen. Basically, it allows you
to zoom in and out along the y axis.
3. time/div- this control lets you change how much time is represented by each
horizontal increment of the grid overlay on the screen. It allows you to zoom
in and out along the x axis.
4. Oscilloscope measurement is considered as a time based measurement
because its function is it allows observation of constantly varying signal
voltages, usually as a two-dimensional plot of one or more signals as a
function of time.
5. The coupling switch is electrically placed between the test probe and the
scopes internal circuitry. The coupling switch of an oscilloscope has 3
positions:
GND (Ground) this is commonly used to establish a 0-volt reference position
of the horizontal scan line, especially when preparing to make a voltage
measurement.
DC In the DC position, both DC and AC measurements can be made.
AC In the AC position, DC voltages cannot be measured, whether it is pure
DC or combined DC and AC.
