Board thickness is the standard .062 inches. Tep surface has .080 x .080 square pads with inch centers on one side and ground plane an the back. Both sides are coated with a tin platingto prevent corrosion, National RF’s prototyping circuit boards (Type NPC) National RF’s prototyping circuit boards were developed to aid in RF circuit protyping, where extensive ground plane on the board is often required for proper circuit operation at high frequencies. On all of the NPC series, a grid pattern is etched onto one side of a single-sided copper- clad board, each connected to the ground plane by a small trace. After the prototype board is layed out, the board lands, which are required to be soldered to components and insulated from the ground plane, are disconnected by removing the interconnecting trace with a scribe or other sharp instrument. The remaining lands are thus still left connected to the ground bus to form the ground plane. Discrete components and parts may be either “surface soldered” to the lands, or a hole may be drilled into the land and the components mounted on the reverse side of the board and then soldered to the land. Hence, a ground plane may be established with a single-sided PC board for high frequency prototyping applications to about 30 MHz. The NPC series are made from composite circuit board material only. The NPC-D series have an identical grid pattern side on one side, but offer a complete ground plane on the reverse side. Hence a true ground plane is established when prototyping VHF circuits above 30 MHz. Both series of prototyping boards include a single wide trace which may be used as a power bus for circuit power application. The NPC-D series are offered only in the more effective fiberglass circuit board material, and are suitable for prototyping work above 30 MHz.
