EXT.PARK.--SUNSET
The park is empty, the wind blows gently. Then a TENNIS-BALL falls
out of nowhere, soon followed by a DOG that picks up the TENIS-BALL
and runs.
Then a man. PETER. Dressed in dog walking clothes, follows the dog.
The sound POLICE SIRENS AND A CAR SKIDDING IN THE BACKGROUND then
SPRINTING FOOTSTEPS gradually getting louder. CHRIS appears in a
full tracksuit and a black BB gun in his hand, running towards Peter
who turns once he hears him.
CHRIS
(Shouting aggressively)
Don't move! Don't fucking move!
Peter stares at him in panic
DOG POV- CHRIS AND PETER
CHRIS
(Shouting at Peter)
Give me your fucking money!
PETER
(Timidly)
I don't have any
CHRIS
Give me your fucking money!
PETER
(Timidly but a bit louder so Chris can hear)
I don't have any. I don't have anything on me.
Chris is getting angry.
CHRIS
Fuck off! Fuck!
CUT TO:
LONG SHOT
Chris is flailing his arms about in anger, and then he hit Peter
with his BBGun and runs.
DOG POV-- CHRIS RUNNING AWAY INTO THE WOODS
LONG SHOT
Chris running and Peter on the ground
CLOSE UP
His hand is over his eye! Then the dog comes over and licks his face
then steps over him covering the screen and once she is the other
side...
MATCH CUT:
INT. BEDROOM.--MORNING
Peter looks to his left and sees
THE DOG
Then smiles. He gets up out of bed and the dog follows, he walks out
the bedroom.
CUT TO:

THE KITCHEN
All that's seen are mugs then the middle one is taken so Peter is
seen.
He begins to make a cup of tea but when he stretches to reach the
sugar he knocks over the mug and the handle breaks off, but instead
of getting a new one he continues to use the same mug.
He struggles to take the scorching hot mug to the table but manages
it just.
MONTAGE
Peter coming in through the door seen in dog PoV, passing of days.
Struggling with the tea. Sitting with the dog. Walking the dog.
Ends with dog on Peters lap, saying good night.
Peter is in bed we see
HIS EYE
Close then
MATCH CUT:
EXT. LAKE--DAY
Pebble falling into lake
INT. KITCHEN--NIGHT
You see Tap in kitchen dripping and a man breaks in a steals
valuable items but as he leaves he doesn't shut the door properly
and it blows open and the dog walks out of the door.
Int. Bedroom--morning
Peter wakes up out of breath looks to his left the dog isn't there.
He gets out of bed and run out of the bedroom.
CUT TO:
KITCHEN-- CONTINUES
Peter running into the kitchen looking for his dog
He runs to the phone a calls 999 we hear it ring three times and on
the fourth it cuts out.
CUT TO:
EXT. BEDROOM--MORNING
Close up on alarm clock zooming out then it clicks and goes off.
Peter is seen over the alarm clock we follow him as he gets up a
leaves the bedroom
KITCHEN--CONTINUES
Peter makes a cup of tea but this time as he rushes to take it to
the table he drops it and it breaks.
PETER
(Out of shear anger and stress)
Fuuuck!!!
He realises straight away what he has said
CUT TO:
BATHROOM--CONTINUES
Peter is splashing his face looking at himself in the mirror. There
is blood in the sink because he bit his lip and it is bleeding, he
walks out the bath room as the camera follows him in to the living

room, he sits down on the sofa in deep contemplation he looks over


to
THE DOGS BED
He runs over and kicks it and picks it up and throws it to the
ground trying to break it.
CUT TO:
LIVINGROOM
Peter staring in the mirror in a suit.

PETER
Your honour, I appreciate that you have refunded the stolen items,
however he stole my dog and with all due respect that cannot be
replaced with money, and as my dad is too old and immobile to help
me search for her, I would be extremely grateful if a search party
was initiated.
Peter Looks at himself then walks out the front door.
CUT TO:
UTILITY ROOM
The printer printing posters for missing dog.
CUT TO:
FRONT DOOR
PETER
Your honour, I appreciate that you have refunded the stolen items,
however he stole my dog...
LAWYER
Your honour my subject has pleaded guilty for the robbery of Mr
Peter Christian's home but he did not steal the dog
JUDGE
The defendant is guilt for the robbery of Peter Christian's house
and sentenced to 6 months in jail. However as the dog was not stolen
through the eyes of the jury and no human lives are at risk, no
police organised search party will be initiated.
PETER
So you're saying she just ran away!
Peter comes bursting through the door and walks in to living room.
And Stares at the ceiling. Then walks into the study come back with
the posters looks and them then throws them on the table and knocks
the mirror over.
CUT TO:
MONTAGE
Peter walking the dog
PETER VO
A dog, man's best friend. They are always there when you need them,
always happy. They listen to what you have to say with no risk of
judgement, even though they don't reply you feel like they do, you
feel like they understand. They do understand I know it. This is the
connection they create; they are an extension of who you are as a

person, but then why did she leave, why did she run away. Maybe this
connection isn't real, just something us people look for and create
to help us. This philosophical faade that we rap ourselves in to
protect our minds and force them to believe that we have someone,
someone looking out for us, someone to lean on, But still...
CUT TO:
DINNING ROOM
Peters back staring out the door
PETER
I'm doing this for my dog
He walks out the door, and the door closes.
The missing dog posters are on the table we see
THE MIRROR
With the word dog in reverse in it then it fades in to the word God.
