To Whom It May Concern:

Jaclyn Spinelli was my student during her 10 week psychiatric/mental health nursing clinical
rotation last semester. As a clinical instructor/lecturer with fifty years experience in various
psych nursing areas, I have a unique opportunity to become acquainted with my students as
individuals. Since they're learning to use their own personalities as a therapeutic tool, I try to
help them get to know themselves more in depth and as members of a team on our 3-unit
inpatient facility. During our psych rotation, they also experience working with older adults,
pediatric therapy services, and intensive adult outpatient group therapy. My goal for them is to
practice interpersonal relationship skills that can be generalized and applied to any nursing
endeavor they choose.
Jaclyn Spinelli is a special person in many ways. First of all, she is highly intelligent with an EQ
to match. It just so happened that I interviewed her three years ago for her acceptance into the
University of Arizona's BSN program. Jaclyn's demeanor was memorable even then. Now that
she is graduating, she will be one of the finest examples of RN's-to-be that we can offer the
health care world. Just review her splendid resume. When you interview her, you will know that
she is even better than she "looks" on paper! A GPA of 3.8. Dean's List with Distinction four
years in a row, and yet she makes time for numerous volunteer/philanthropic endeavors as well.
Our College of Nursing (the 20th best in the nation) prides itself on graduating well-rounded
individuals - brains and heart. Jaclyn personifies that ideal.
Now the usual (but true) description of the strengths and attributes that Jaclyn will bring to your
organization: 1) a broad and in depth nursing knowledge base; 2) highly developed
technical/technology abilities; 3) excellent verbal/written communication skills and finally; 4) an
appreciation of the value of the continued application of evidenced-based nursing practice.
Sometimes when I write these letters of recommendation, I feel like I run out of superlatives or
that I sound like I'm exaggerating. Jaclyn is one of the best and the brightest nursing students
I've had the privilege to teach. An extra-added bonus is her leadership abilities. Make her a
member of your health care team. That decision will reward you many dividends in years to
come. Your patients will thank you, too.
Sincerely,

Susan Markovich, RN, MSN
