GAUGE:
10 hdc + 7 rows = 4 in. (10 cm).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will
be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient.
If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size
hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
1. Beanie is worked in continuous rounds beginning at top.
2. When you see 12 sts in the instructions, this lets you know how many sts you will have
at the end of that specific row.

Ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 4 hdc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is
completed.
Rnds 2 and 3: Work 2 hdc in each hdc around - 16 hdc at the end of Rnd 3.
Rnd 4: *2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next hdc; rep from * around - 24 hdc.
Rnd 5: *2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 2 hdc; rep from * around - 32 hdc.
Rnd 6: *2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 3 hdc; rep from * around - 40 hdc.
Rnd 7: *2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 4 hdc; rep from * around - 48 hdc.
Rnd 8: Hdc in each hdc around.

Rep Rnd 8 until piece measures about 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beg.
Fasten off.

Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is
completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 dc in each sc around - 10 dc.
Rnd 3: *Sc in next st, ch 8, skip next st; rep from * around - 5 ch-8 sps.

Fasten off.
