Sidra Bell Dance New York

Sidra Bell Dance New York is a boutique dance company of prolific movement artists based in
New York City that presents innovative, kinetic, and provocative dance theater works. It has
continually presented unusual, haunting, emotionally transporting, complex, articulate, sensual,
highly physical, and elaborate full-scale productions to sold-out New York City audiences. They
will take this unique style to the Manship Theatre stage on April 18, 2015 at 8:00pm.
Sidra Bell, who serves as the artistic director, is a Master Lecturer at the University of the Arts in
Philadelphia, and was an Adjunct Professor at Barnard College in New York City. She has a
degree in History from Yale University and an MFA in Choreography from Purchase College.
Ms. Bell has won several awards, including a notable 1st Prize for Choreography at the
International Solo-Tanz Festival in Stuttgart, Germany. New York Times has referred to Bell as
"having a lot working in her favor: powerful, daredevil dancers and an almost garish imagination
capable of dreaming up surreal scenarios... a slick intensity dominates her onstage worlds."
