Statement
The
unifying
topic
for
the
unit
is
to
be
able
to
introduce
oneself
and
describe
others
in
Spanish.
The
purpose
this
is
that
students
may
learn
and
use
Spanish
in
a
more
practical
and
realistic
way,
based
on
the
real
life
setting
and
by
including
oneself
those
around
them.
In
order
to
do
this,
students
will
learn
some
useful
verbs
along
with
adjectives
as
their
resource
tool
to
be
able
to
describe
in
Spanish.
The
main
issue
in
Spanish
classes
is
the
lack
of
connection
between
the
classroom
learning
and
the
real
life.
Many
times
Spanish
class
materials
remain
as
the
classroom
language
of
a
foreign
language
classroom,
not
as
a
language
that
is
used
in
various
countries
around
the
world.
Considering
this,
it
is
important
to
recognize
that
Spanish
as
a
language
is
comprised
of
various
components
such
as
reading,
speaking,
listening,
writing,
and
even
culture.
Thus,
Spanish
teachers
should
be
aware
of
all
those
components
and
try
to
integrate
them
well
without
missing
any
of
them
or
losing
the
balance
by
focusing
more
on
one.
Therefore,
the
big
question
is,
How
can
the
learning
from
this
unit
be
transferred
to
the
everyday
life
of
the
students?
As
a
response,
this
unit
incorporates
the
description
of
someone
who
is
well-known
to
the
student,
starting
from
the
students
themselves.
This
also
connects
to
the
Common
Core
standard
on
English
Language
Arts
for
the
4th
graders,
in
which
students
learn
to
introduce
the
characters.
In
addition,
the
lesson
will
incorporate
the
technology
in
response
to
the
growing
use
of
technology
in
todays
world.
For
the
social
component,
the
students
will
introduce
one
another
and
edit
each
others
work.
