Overall Practicum Goal: Gain knowledge and hands on experience working with children and families
that have faced hardships,
Learning Objectives I: Learn intern duties, computer program and get comfortable
assisting families and children one on one.

Time Line

Learning Activities
1. Attend orientation to learn basics of the Center and all that they do, as well as
what my overall duties and jobs are as an intern

Week 1

2. Review first cases given to me and begin to understand situations

Weeks 2-3

3. Make first contact with clients and set up first appointments in order to fill out needs
assessment and learn how I can be of help to the family.

Weeks 2-3

Learning Objectives II: Dip my toes into other areas of the Advocacy Center in order
to get a better overall experience_

Time Line

Learning Activities
1. Continue working in activity room with children on my scheduled days and
when needed

Weeks 2-18

2. Ask to go on more home/school visits with CPS

Weeks 3-14

3. Observe and help facilitate supervised visitation for families to visit with children Weeks 3-14
4. Attend a case staffing a few time tin order to learn more about my case and other Weeks 3-14
cases that are taking place in the center
5. Reflect and debrief with mentor

1. Learn the needs of our families during holiday time (what type of gifts, etc)

2. Help set up and assist with toy store that is created for families

3. Be of assistance on the day of the holiday to help where needed
