According to Barack Obamas speech he gave at the let freedom ring
ceremony on the Lincoln Memorial steps Obamas claims that people who
love their country can change it for the good. Obama wrote this speech in
honor of the 50th anniversary of the march on Washington. Obama explains
his claim by using the March on Washington and how the march changed
America. Obama explains
When Americans think of the March on Washington usually the first
thing that jumps in their mind is Martin Luther King Jr. This is not a bad
thing, however no one really acknowledges the infamous people who
marched as well and as Americans it is important for us to honor them as
well because they too lived in the torment, and suffered from the violence
and still chose to be peaceful. Many Americans of all ages and races traveled
to Washington to peacefully protest for the equal rights of all men they were
promised of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. By Marching they made
a difference. They never gave up in what they believed in. They changed
America by passing laws which eventually changed the white house.

In which he leads up to the fact that America is not finish growing. We


have been delayed but will soon get back on track. We still need to work on
equal rights for all Americans. We are not quite there yet, but has no fear
that we will get there, because if the people who marched in Washington
changed America in so many ways. So can our generation as well.
