Purpose
ThepurposeoftheMediaMakerSpaceistoprovidelibrarypatronsaccesstovarious
digitalmediatechnologiesthatsupporttheireducationalandpersonalgoals.

Eligibility
TheMediaMakerSpaceisavailabletolibrarypatronsages12andup.
Anadultmustaccompanyusersunderage11atalltimes.
Usersages1217musthaveaparentorlegalguardiansigntheagreementform.
YoudonotneedaNorthLoganCityLibrarycardtousetheMediaMakerSpace,but
youmusthaveavalidschoolorgovernmentissuedidentification.Thelibrarystaff
provideakeytounlockthedoorandwillholdyourIDwhileyouareusingthelab.

ConditionsofService
TheNorthLoganCityLibrarywill:
AssistpatronsinusingtheMediaMakerSpaceresourcestotheextentthat
time,otherduties,andpatrondemandswillallow.
Notacceptresponsibilityfordamagetoausersdiskorcomputer,norforthe
lossofdataorfiles,norforliabilitythatoccursfromthepatronsuseofthe
librarysInternetconnection,software,orhardware.
Notassistintransportingortransferringsupplies,equipment,orfurnitureto
andfromthemedialab.
Computerusersagreeto:
Becourteoustootherlibrarypatrons.
Complywithallrules,procedures,andrestrictionsdevelopedbythelibrary
staffand/orboard.
Acceptresponsibilityforthesecurityoftheinformationtheygiveontheweb,
suchaspersonalinformationandcreditcardnumbers.
Respectcopyrightlawsandlicensingagreements.
Notsendorreceiveoffensive,pornographic,orillegalinformation.
Notusethelibraryscomputersforillegalactivities,advertising,lobbying,
commercialpurposes,orfundedresearch.
Notmodifylibraryhardwareorsoftware.

UseAgreement
FirsttimeusersmustreadtheMediaMakerSpacePolicyandRulesandsignthe
agreementformstatingtheywillcomplywiththerulesandthattheyarefinancially
responsibleforanymisuseordamagetoequipment.Usersyoungerthan18musthavea
parentorlegalguardiansigntheagreementform.

Violationoftherules,responsibilities,andagreementssetforthinthispolicyandviolations
ofUtahStateCode766703andUtahCodeAnnotated97215,mayresultindisciplinary
action.Atthediscretionofthelibrarystaff,lossoflibraryprivilegesmayoccur.Severe
violationsmayresultinlegalaction.AppealofthisdecisionmaygototheLibraryBoard.

MakerSpaceRules

Nofoodordrinksofanykindarepermitted.
TheMediaMakerSpaceisopenduringnormallibraryhoursbutcloses30minutes
priortolibraryclosing.
TheMediaMakerSpacemaybeusedintwohourincrements.Ifspaceisavailable
afterthetwohourtimelimit,theusermayreceiveadditionaltimein15minute
increments.
Nomorethan8peoplemaybeintheroomatonetime.
Usersmustprovidetheirownexternalstoragedevicesand/ormedia.
Anyworksavedonthelibrarycomputerwillbedeletedonceyouareloggedoffand
cannotberecovered.
Itistheresponsibilityofthelibrarypatronstodeleteand/orremoveanyoftheirfiles
(digitalorprint)fromlibraryequipmentintheMediaMakerSpace.
Thelibraryisnotresponsibleforequipmentorfiles(digitalorprint)leftbehind.
AkeytotheMakerSpacewillbecheckedouttoanindividualusingavalidID.The
individualwhochecksoutthekeywillbeconsideredthemainuserandis
responsibleforanydamageormisuseoftheequipment,evenifagroupisworking
onaprojecttogether.
Usersmustnotleaveequipmentunattendedwhileitischeckedouttothem.
Ifacomputerisnotworkingoryouarehavingtroublewiththeequipment,please
contactstaffatthefrontdesk.
TemporarystorageisavailableforMediaMakerSpaceusers.However,all
equipmentthatcontainsstoragecapabilitywillbeeraseduponreturntolibrarystaff

andonceerased,datacannotberecovered.Itisrecommendedthatuserseraseall
databeforereturningequipmenttostaff.

workinatimelymanner.Pleasenotethatlargerfilestakelongertosave.
