Transition

Education is a patch of silver, a stitch of gold. Its value encompasses the world and embraces the
universe. It gives birth to the innovation of the mind and the advancement of purpose. Education
pursues change.
Decades and a few history books back, our forefathers have only envisioned this, amidst the echo
of cannons, the ripping of rights, and the advancement of race. And now we have it!
Standardized education for all!
ASEAN integration has come offering us a stage for global competition, a platform to release all
these potentials to the world. This is an opportunity for us to belong in the mainstream. Imagine
it! Higher professional education for engineers, accountants, nurses, teachers, and technology
specialists. We shall not create gentle ripples but lashing waves, leaving imprints in codes and
numbers.
Standardized education overrules mediocrity and alleviates illiteracy. It is one tool that covers
petty issues and huge atrocities. Deny as we may, we are craving for professionals who can
innovate and deliver. We are in need of professionals who are willing to scour a field in search
for the perfect seed.
How can we not welcome this? This is a chance to catch that elusive spot at par with other
countries: the chance to receive the same state of recognition. This is a driven proposition with
the hopes of planting a firm seat for our graduates in the real arena.
We all have a similar aspiration and that is to put our school years to good use. All those hours in
the library, skipping meals and TV shows, missing friends, taking chances, solving problems
they all add up to the same dream.
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful tool which you can use to change
the world. We must continuously believe in the power of knowledge. The hunger for it naturally
burns in us. ASEAN integration has welcomed us in its mission of producing competent,
confident, and capable professionals. We are in this, because we can be this.
How long did we wait for this? The chance to be regarded with the same respect and
expectations, the chance to be rewarded with the same opportunities and honor as feeders of
advancement in our society.
I am asking you right now, paint that detailed picture in your minds: sit on leather chairs, walk on
meeting rooms, stand on the top floor, create a cure, care for the poor, nurture minds, produce the
best, design the best, be the best.
The task of raising the green banners for spectators is dawning on us. Animo La Salle!
