Voicethread Introduction

What is Voicethread?

Voicethread is a mixer tool—meaning it combines a variety of types of content, including


images, PowerPoints, audio and video.

Voicethread allows you to present material, comment on it, and receive comments from
others on it, similar to a discussion board, but more visual.

Icebreaker for introductions in a class. Mostly for K-12, but organized by discipline.

Visual discussion board. Can be embedded in Blackboard and in wikis and blogs.

Creating/Commenting on a Voicethread

You must create a free account to be able to comment on a Voicethread. Make sure you
check the Education account type, because you have larger files sizes to upload.

1. Go to http://voicethread.com/
2. Click on Create >> Register
a. Fill in form and Click Click here at bottom right for Educator
3. Visit my Voicethread from Blackboard and make a comment, using text, audio, and/or
video.
a. You will likely need to allow the Adobe Air plugin to
allow it to connect to your camera and mic
4. Click on Create tab to create your own. Use files from your
H drive or from resources provided on Bb.
