Classroom Management

A successful and orderly learning environment begins with an effective

classroom management system, which focuses on the first day of
school, routines and procedures, classroom climate, transition and
sponge activities, and communication. Wong and Wong clearly state:
If you do not structure your classroom, the students will structure the
classroom for you (2009, p. 111).

I will clearly state and reinforce classroom routines and

procedures in order to have a smoothly run, and
consistent classroom. I will use Wongs Explain,
Rehearse, and Reinforce method to teaching
procedures (Wong & Wong 2009, p. 175).
I will seek to create a positive, organized, safe, fun,
creative, and friendly classroom climate because I
recognize classroom climate not only affects student
growth and learning, but also reflects how teachers
view education and children. (Bullard, 2010, p. 3).
I will intentionally plan for the first day of school, using
a first day of school script, because I know the first
day is one that sets the tone for the rest of the year
(Wong & Wong, 2009, p. 110).
I will use transition and sponge activities in my
classroom because I believe that every minute of the
school day is valuable and I strongly believe that no
moment should be wasted.
I will implement a variety of tools throughout my
classroom to ensure that communication between
parents and myself is open and clear.
