Dear A. Parent:
Your child, Christopher, is a student in my Government class at Awesome High School.
The purpose of this communication is to inform you that I am presently experiencing
some problems with him. I would greatly appreciate your cooperation in working with me
to address these problems.
Overall, Chris has displayed a high level of intelligence and willingness to learn. He
understands new concepts quickly and is usually one of the first students to make critical
connections between ideas. However, over the course of the past several weeks Chriss
behavior in my class has become increasingly disruptive. There have been many days
when he has taken excessive amounts of time to get settled and take out the materials
for the lesson, and during the course of the class he is often off task and/or out of his
seat. I have also had to ask him numerous times each day to stop talking during class.
Several of his peers have privately asked me to move him out of their seating group so
that they might be able to focus better.
It is unclear what may have caused the increase in this inappropriate behavior but I do
need to take action in order to minimize the disruptions that he is causing in class. I
believe that Chris has the potential to be one of the best students in my class. Please
