Our Project
Conducting research and re-starting a program to actively
and safely reduce the number of restraints being used
within the facility

Our Purpose
St Josephs at Flemings number of residents in restraints
is currently higher than both the benchmark number (3%)
and the provincial average (8.9%)
Restraints pose a number of risks to the health and wellbeing of the residents, including an increased risk of
falls/injuries

Talks about the myths surrounding the use of restraints
Demonstrates the risks involved in restraint use
Provides examples of safe alternatives to restraints
Gives a brief explanation of the legislation of restraint use
in long term care
