Desiree (Ning) Low was born on June 17 th 1993 in Illinois, USA.

At the age of
three, she and her family had migrated to Singapore. As a young child, Desiree
was often surrounded with music. Many a times, she was taught by her mother to
sing Chinese songs, as well as nursery rhymes. And at the age of six, she was
introduced to her first piano teacher, Ms. Tan Wei Chen.
Desiree had taken her first piano exam under the Associated Board of the Royal
Schools of Music (ABRSM) in 2002, and had successfully received a Grade 2
certificate. However, after receiving a Grade 5 certificate in 2005, she temporarily
stopped her piano career due to the financial difficulties at home.
Subsequently, she had begun her life in middle school. But, she had felt that
something was terribly missing in her daily routine as though a part of her
actual life was torn away. Even though Desiree was not able to receive any
music lessons at home, she was given the opportunity to serve as a keyboardist
and pianist at True Grace Presbyterian Church. This God-given opportunity had
exposed her to many improvisation techniques, as well as giving her the chance
to perform in front of at least 700 audiences in the congregation.
With Gods grace, she was able to receive piano lessons once more at the end of
2008 that was fully sponsored by her elementary school friends mother, Mrs.
Tan. By 2010, Desiree had successfully achieved the Grade 8 piano practical
examination.
Currently, Desiree is a college student at Wheelock College. She is double
majoring in Psychology and Human Development with a focus on Counseling, as
well as Performing Arts. She is also minoring in Child Health. Despite her busy
schedule, Desiree enjoys setting time aside to practice her piano and play her
favorite pieces from Japanese animation and video game composers. She is
working towards to become a music therapist in the future with the vision of
helping children and families, as well as hoping to further study in her piano
performance.
