The D.I.K.W.

framework consists of four parts; Data, Information, Knowledge, and


Wisdom. These are four things that build on each other. First, you must collect your
data from credible sources, such as medical journals, to support the question that
you are trying to answer. Second, you have information which is taking the pieces
of data and making them useful to your specific needs, such as answering your
question. The information is what helps answer the W questions, who, what,
when, why, to get to the more concrete answers. After you have pieced the data
into information you have knowledge. Knowledge comes from experience and
insight, and is how we apply the data and information to the problem we are
working with. The fourth part of the framework is wisdom. Wisdom is taking the
data researched, the information collected, the knowledge you have gained, and
applying it all together.
