The plans goals are to successfully integrate technology to improve professional
development. Research shows that technology integration establishes practice,
provides administrator support, and creates a relationship to context and
curriculum for a school.
Information that is gathered from other school campuses is often shared with the
faculty of our school. All Harmony schools have one policy for guidelines, but
then each individual school also has their own practices as well. When site visits
occur we try to see what other schools are doing in the district to also implement
for our professional development and student achievement.
CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.

The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe teachers' current access to instructional technology and current use of

digital tools.
1. What technology is currently available to all teachers?
At Harmony Science Academy Houston High, each teacher receives a work laptop that
they can use in the classroom and take home. In each classroom, teacher is provided with
a projector. We are able to connect our laptops directly to the projector for classroom use.
Presentations and lesson plans are readily available to show the students in class.
2. How is technology currently being used by teachers and administrators to
promote effective classroom instruction and school management?

Each teacher is able to connect their laptops directly to the projectors that are built-in to
the classrooms. Anything that needs to be viewed from the laptop can be viewed in a
larger scale onto the projector. This is very useful for all teachers. For example, in a math
class we are able to show how a problem is worked out by showing multiple examples
from the laptop to the projector for all students to see. In addition, teachers can provide
students with resources from the internet.
Each administrator uses their individual laptop to create spreadsheets in Excel for all the
students. The database is used for each grade level. This helps them better manage the
number of students, contact information, class schedules, etc
Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current use of
digital tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices, and/or
replacement policy that ensures equitable technology access for all students.
1. Is technology currently available to all students?

At Harmony Science Academy Houston High, students have access to technology. There
is a class set of chrome books for each student in each room. In addition, two computer
labs with 25 desktops.
2. Do all student groups have equal and appropriate access to the available
technology?
Yes, all students have equal opportunity to access the chrome books in the classrooms.
They are also able to stay afterschool and work in the computer labs.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for using
technology to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these goals align to
the LEA's curricular goals that are supported by other plans. Describe how the
LEA's budget (LCAP) supports these goals, and whether future funding
proposals or partnerships may be needed for successful implementation.
1. Are targets for improvement in student achievement being met?
Yes, with all the technological implementations that are currently at our school, students
are improving academically. There has been a tremendous increase in student
achievement after these implementations.
2. How will technology be used to create more powerful learning experiences
to improve student academic achievement?
Technology is being used in various different ways at our school. For example, we
empower students to be involved in extracurricular activities such as the robotics club.
The robotics class and club are both designed to teach students different types of
technology to build a new innovation. These innovations are tested and re-tested and

prepared for demonstration at STEM Festival. These projects are displayed at this event
to show how students are learned different types of technologies in robotics class. This is
just an example of how our students improve academically, especially those who want a
future in the science field as their future career.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, to address

Internet Safety and the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the
classroom.
1. How are teachers using online communication technologies, including
but not limited to social networking and instant messaging?
One way teachers are using online communication is by email. Students and parents can
communicate back and forth by this tool. Another website that is being used is Edmodo.
Teachers can create a group and post messages, comments, and files to share with
students in their group. Students can also reply and share thoughts. Similar to Facebook,
however strictly for educational use only.
2. How is access to only appropriate educational online resources
accomplished?
The chrome books that are provided in the classroom are restricted by the Central office.
For example, Facebook is not accessible. Websites that are for educational use can be
accessed.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT
The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and

integration skills and needs for professional development.
1. Are administrators able to support teachers with the integration of
technology into daily curriculum?
The Administrators are able to support teachers with the integration of technology
into daily curriculum. Whenever the teachers need any kind of technological
support for their classroom, the administrators are usually very accepting of the
teachers needs.

2. What do teachers and administrators consider as their needs for

professional development?
The faculty has an open-door policy when it comes to voicing their needs. Some of them include
updated laptops with new programming. Others include training on specific programs such as the
schools database which is used for the input of student information and class schedules. Almost
always we are provided with training to help all of the staff professionally develop in our careers.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment
data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.
1. How will teachers and administrators be trained and provided on-going
support in the effective integration of technology into the curriculum?
Teachers and administrators are always trained on using new technology and
programs. They are introduced to our school from the central office. Every year they
also have training sessions before each school to make sure all faculties are current
on their knowledge about new programs. Throughout the school year our IT manager
is always providing faculty with support to ensure that all concerns are resolved to
provide effective technological use into the schools curriculum. This will enhance
student learning.
2. What professional learning will be available so teachers and administrators
can effectively use technology to assist with student assessment?
Our school is provided with data about each school in the district. The data is
analyzed in different categories. This data is shared with the schools faculty, and
each area that needs improvement is highly focused on for the next school year.
INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND
ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA
The Plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services,
hardware, software, asset management, and other services that will be needed to
improve education services.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the existing hardware, Internet access, electronic learning resources,

technical support, and asset management already in the LEA that will be used to
support the Curriculum and Professional Development Components of the plan.
1. What technologies are available to facilitate home/school communication such as

email, web pages, and voice mail?

Many students and parents at our school prefer to use email as the main means for
communication between the teachers and administrators. Many parents will
directly write to the students teachers or counselors regarding any questions or
concerns they may have. Harmony also has a program called school reach. A mass
phone message is sent to all parents phones.
2. What technology access do parents have at home? What technologies do
parents prefer for home/school communication?
Many parents feel the most comfortable by writing emails to the faculty at our
school. Parents like to see a chain of messages to one message between teachers,
counselors, and the parent. Written communication is preferred so there is proof
of the conversations.
In addition, Parents have access to their students database via computer and
phone. Parents can check students progress such as grades and test scores. They
can also check to see their childs attendance record. Teacher contact information
is also provided in the students database.
Describe the technology hardware, electronic learning resources, networking and
telecommunications infrastructure, physical plant modifications, technical
support, and asset management needed by the LEA's teachers, students, and
administrators to support the activities in the Curriculum and Professional
Development components of the plan.
1. What emerging technologies could be used to implement the plans goals?
Many of the staff members want to be able to have access to their database from
home so they can continue to work on days they are not able to attend work. As of
now only a few have access to remote connection. Giving access to these
technologies can be used to implement the planned goals.
What technologies will teachers and administrators need to successfully
implement the plans goals and benchmarks?
Some technologies include new laptops, projectors, printers, etc These are all
necessary technologies to include in the plan to successfully implement.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT

The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor
progress toward the specific goals and make mid-course corrections in response

to new developments and opportunities as they arise.

(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the process for evaluating the plan's overall progress and impact on
teaching and learning.
1. What indicators of success will be used to evaluate whether
implementation of the plan has made a positive impact on student
achievement?
Indicators that can be used to evaluate the progress, is by data analysis of the
students grades, class ranking, students GPA, etc Most of the classes students
take involves technology. This will have a direct impact on the students grades
and class ranking. If a certain student moves up in their class rank after
implementation of the plan, we can definitely see a positive improvement in the
students achievement.
2. Who will participate in the monitoring and evaluation process?
The teachers and counselors will participate in the monitoring and evaluation
process. These faculty members are in direct contact with students to see if
positive improvements are occurring.
Describe the schedule for evaluating the effect of plan implementation, including
a description of the process and frequency of communicating evaluation results
to tech plan stakeholders.
1. How often will data be collected and summarized? Who is responsible?
Data can be collected every 6 weeks. This will allow faculty to
make changes and adjust throughout the school year to improve
as we go. All faculty that is directly involved in the students
achievement at the school (teachers, counselors, administrators,
IT manager) will all be responsible to help collect and
summarized data.
2. How will teachers, parents, and other stakeholders provide suggestions
and opinions in the evaluation process?
Surveys can be sent out to those directly involved. The survey will have a set of
questions to answer as well as areas for suggestions and opinions on what we
should continue to implement and what we should not.
