10 More Ways to Use Blogs in the Classroom

1. Administrators can host a faculty blog where important reminders and minutes from faculty
meeting can be posted.
2. Administrators can put examples from the LEAP evaluation rubric that theyve seen in the
classroom.
3. Student council can use a blog to get teachers to sign up for events such as homecoming, Morp,
and Prom.
4. List of school clubs can use a blog to highlight members, inform students of meeting times, and
post information about upcoming events and then post pictures from events.
5. The daily announcements could have links to upcoming events and the biweekly video
announcements for students to access.
6. Students can post questions from the homework and have their peers and teachers provide
assistance.
7. Classroom blogs can begin the year with surveys on classroom expectations and student
questionnaires. These items can then be brought back into the classroom for a general
discussion.
8. Blogs can be used in any class to gather students previous knowledge on an upcoming topic. In
math, I could ask students to comment with what they know about Quadratics to see what they
do or dont know.
9. Create a blog that has a detailed account of what happened in class that day with links to
assignments. Mr. Towne does a great job with this for his Algebra 1 students.
10. Teachers can use a blog to collaborate with each other in preparation for weekly co-planning or
co-curricular meetings. Ideas, lesson plans, exit tickets can be shared with this platform.
