INTRODUCTION

Polymer electrolytes is a semi-solid electrolytes as a separator in battery lithium ion.

Separator is medium transfers of ions and prevent the occurrence of short-circuit in battery cells.
Separator needed with high porosity and high electrolyte uptake to obtain the optimal battery
performance. This can reduce the resistance in transfer of ions between the cathode and anode.
Separator usually have a zero resistance. Low ion resistance can be obtained with a high porosity
[1].
Semi-solid poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) is a polymer that got the attention of
researchers as one of the ingredients of making lithium ion battery separator because high polarity
and high electrolyte absorption [1]. Synthesis of polymer membranes can be used in many
solvents, like DMF, DMAc, NMP and aquadest. There are many types of additives have been used
for PVDF membrane modification: hydrophilic polymers or pore-forming (polyvinylpyrrolidone PVP and poly(methyl methacrylate) - PMMA), amphiphilic copolymers and inorganic particles
[2]. Addition of inorganic nanoparticles is a suitable method for the synthesis of polymer
membranes [2]. This modification aims to improve porosity membrane, reduce hydrophobic
properties and increase the fouling resistance and permeability[2]. Several processing methods
have been developed for the preparation of polymer electrolytes with IL including solvent casting,
phase inversion and electrospinning [3].
This paper aims to investigate the impact of many solvent (DMAc, DMF and NMP) and
pore forming agent (Nanoclay and poly(vinyl pyrolidone) (PVP) using phase inversion method on
the morphology, porosity, electrolyte uptake, phase, and degree of crystalinity.
