Business Objects Mobile


Configuration and Setup
The configuration and setup instructions outline both the server and client (iPad/ iPhone) side setup. This
document assumes that administrators perform the server side configuration and are aware of the various
tools of BusinessObjects Enterprise, Synchronizer. The document also references to Personify as well as
SAP BusinessObjects documentation.

Server Side Configuration


Installing Service Pack 5 for BusinessObjects Server
1. Make sure service pack 3 is installed prior to proceeding.
2. Create a folder named "BO_SP5_TEMP" on your BOE Server.
3. Navigate to the following file path in the Personify installation package:
..\Business Objects\Software Upgrades\SP5
4. Copy the zip file BOESP5(Server).zip to the above created temp folder.
5. Unzip the copied file and run the setup.exe as an administrator.
6. Follow the installation wizard.

Installing Mobile on BusinessObjects Server


1. Create a folder named BO_SP5_Mobile on your BOE server.
2. Navigate to the following file path in the Personify installation package:
..\Business Objects\Software Upgrades\SP5\Mobile
3. Copy the Mobile_SP5.exe to the above created temp folder.
4. Double click on the .exe file and follow the installation wizard.
5. Once the installation is complete perform the following:
a. copy the MOBIServer.war and MOBIServer.war file to
\\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps.

You can find the MOBIServer.war and MOBIServer.war files at the following location
of your BusinessObjects Mobile installation: \\Program Files (x86)\SAP
BusinessObjects\Mobile 14\Server.
b. Run all the batch files that you ran initially while performing a fresh install located at the
following location:
\Package\BusinessObjects\Fresh Install\Analyzer Image
c. \Package\BusinessObjects\Fresh Install\BOE Server Files
d. \Package\BusinessObjects\Fresh Install\Misc.

Do not overwrite any existing jar files. When you are asked to overwrite files while
pasting, select No.
e. Navigate to the following location on Business Objects server and copy all jar files:
Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\AnalyticalReporting\WEB-INF\lib
f. Paste the copied files to the following location on the BusinessObjects server:
Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\InfoViewAppActions\WEB-INF\lib

g. Restart TOMCAT to deploy the .war files.

Deploying the Mobile Reports BIAR File


1. Import the Mobile.BIAR file contents to your BO Server using BOE Import Wizard.
o Please refer to Importing the Report BIAR File section of the Personify Online Help on
how to import content using import wizard.
2. Once imported, copy the Mobile folder to your Data Analyzer folder ( Environment Folder ).
3. Make sure the Mobile Universe connection imported as part of the import is pointing to your
personify database DSN
a. Launch Universe Designer.
b. Navigate to Tools > Connections.
c. Locate the Mobile Connection and click Edit.
d. Change the Data Source Name to Personify DSN and enter the relevant user name and
password for the DSN.
e. Test the connection and click Next until completed, then close Designer.
4. Launch Synchronizer and select Webi Universe Connection from the main menu.
5. Check the Mobile Webi document folder.
6. Click Update Report Data Provider to make the mobile reports point to universes under your
environment.

Configuring Mobile Category and Reports


1. Login to CMC and navigate to Categories using either option shown below.

2. Click the category icon to open a new pop up for creating a category.

3. Enter a name for the category to reference your environment folder, for example: PPROD.
4. Once the category is created, click on it and repeat the above step and name the new category
Mobile.
The folders will appear as displayed below.

Naming the category Mobile is critical because the app will display the reports stored only in
this category.

Select Manage > Top Level Security > All Categories.


Click OK on the message box that appears.
Select Everyone Group and click Assign Security.
Select Full Control under Available Access Levels, and move it to Assigned Access Levels.
Click Apply.
Click OK.
Close the User Security Screen.
Right click the environment folder category you created (PPROD) and click User Security.
Click Add Principals and search for [environment folder category_TR] (e.g., PPROD_TR) group
and add it to the Selected Users/Groups section.
Click Add and Assign Security.
Select Full Control under Available Access Levels, and move it to Assigned Access Levels.
Click Apply.
Click OK.
Close the User Security Screen.
Launch Data Analyzer from Personify, and navigate to the mobile reports in your category folder
(e.g., PPROD).
Highlight a report, then right-click and select Categories.

21. Select Mobile under your environment folder category(e.g., PPROD).

22. Click OK.

Client Side Configuration


Copying Report to Mobile Category
1. Launch Data Analyzer from Personify and navigate to the membership advantage reports in your
environment folder
2. Highlight a report, then right-click and select Categories.
3. Select Mobile under the environment folder category you created (e.g., PPROD ).

4. Click OK.

Configure SAP BI on Iphone / IPAD


1. Download the SAP BI application from the Apple App Store.

Make sure the BO server has a public IP address so that it is accessible from your iPhone
/ iPad or make sure you are connected to VPN and can access the server. To test the
connectivity type in the following url in the browser of your device and it should take you to the
tomcat page of the server.
http://<BOSERVER>:8080
2. Click the connections button.
3. Click Create manually.

4. Add the following connection information:


Name: BOSERVER
Server URL: http://<BOSERVER>:8080
CMS Name: <BOCMC>
Authentication: Enterprise
Default: On
User Name: Data Analyzer User ID ( ex PPROD_ORG_ORGUNIT_TR_USER)
Password: personify password
Save Password : On

5. After entering the above values, click Done.

6. Click the new connection added to log on to the server.
Once logged in you should see the reports copied to the category.

7. Click on any of the reports to view the report output.

SAP BI App Limitations
