Reflection on Essay One
Essay one was about writing a realistic fictional story. We had to write about
immigrants coming from a different country to one of America's major cities. We had to
talk about the experience of them in the new city, and what was happening in their
country that made them move to a foreign land. Writing a story is not that hard, but
organizing how you want to write it is a little tough.
I wrote my essay in first person perspective, because I thought it would be easy
for me. Finding the sources was the hardest part. We had to find academic journals,
scholarly journals, historical newspaper articles, and books for our reference. We were
told to do the paper in Chicago style format. Not having enough knowledge about
Chicago style format made it kind of hard to cite the sources. I had to do few researches
on that style, but I believe I still made some errors in citing the sources. I received a "B"
on the paper. Overall, it was not that hard.
