2. Has 10 coins in his
pocket.

Smith:
1. Interviewed for the same job
as Jones.
2. Also has 10 coins in his
pocket (but doesnt know it).
3. Knows that Jones has 10
coins in his pocket.
4. Is justified in believing that
Jones will get the job (given
the evidence presented to
him, i.e., the manager said
Jones will get the job, etc.).
5. Using 3 and 4, Smith forms
the belief the man who will
get the job has 10 coins in his
pocket.
6. Therefore, (5) satisfies JTB,
yet we dont want to say
Smith knows 5.
