My Nursing Philosophy

My nursing philosophy personally aligns with my personal values

and morals. I grew up as a child of a single mom that worked her
hardest her whole life to support my three siblings and myself. She
worked two jobs and still made it a priority to give each child all her
attention and give each client she worked with, as a social worker, her
full attention and effort. I have learned my morals and values from my
mother and all her hard work and dedication she has put into our
family and her job.
From personal life experiences such as making and keeping best
friends, losing loved ones, caring for others through other jobs such as
lifeguarding and being a companion I have learned what kind of
interactions with humans evokes what kinds of responses and
outcomes. By showing every individual I have come across compassion
and respect, I receive the same treatment in return. Feeling respected
as an individual is so important to a happy life and a fulfilling life. By
feeling happy and fulfilled myself, I can say from experience that
compassion and respect are the most important aspects when
interacting with others.
With that being said my nursing philosophy is to care for every
individual with equal compassion, respect, and professionalism to the
best of my ability, everyday of my life as a nurse. By ensuring every
patient I take care of feels comfortable and adequately cared for, I will
feel as if I am fulfilling my role as a nurse. Advocating for a patient and

their rights is the essential role of a nurse and I fully intend to carry out
this responsibility when I become a nurse in every step of my career. I
also plan on carrying out this philosophy in my everyday life as well
because this philosophy embodies my personal morals and values as a
human being.
