Microeconomics required a combination of skills that I have not had to

use before. I was fortunate to have taken courses that taught me skills that
were beneficial to know for this course. Last semester I took the History of
Economics from Heather, but the class arrangement was focused on
historical events, in microeconomics, the focus is to analyze small companies
and firms in order to understand how they affect decision making of
individuals. This course taught me to analyze and use the information I know
in order to make conclusions that are useful in real life situations.
Understanding simple math and excel were of the most critical tools
needed before entering this course along with critical thinking. Critical
thinking was necessary in order to apply real life situations to the course
material. The monopoly article is an example of how critical thinking was
used in the course. The monopoly charts and graphs demonstrate the how
math and excel were critical skills to succeed in the class. Taking math and
CIS courses before this course helped me be efficient when those skills were
required. Taking business 1050 alongside this course was very helpful as it
taught me to apply critical thinking techniques to the articles, quizzes and
tests.
With the use of critical thinking, this course taught me how to analyze
charts, graphs, readings, and data together to make solid conclusions. I plan
on applying terms I learned in this course to my future business courses and
career. As a result of taking this class I feel more prepared to enter the a

business program as I learned business vocabulary and rational thinking

skills.
