Matthew Realon Realon | Professor Raymond UWRT-1103-E02 11 November 2015 ‘The Changes With our initial idea of looking into the future of Esports, it will be hard to make any predictions of what is to come of the Esports world, because nobody really knows. We can see ‘upcoming changes for the specific games, but only behind the scenes do people know what is to come to changes of Esports. For instance League of Legends has three game modes: dominion, normal, and threes. The only mode used in Esports is normal but threes could easily make their Way into the scene if Esports wanted them to. Esports hasn’t indicated any want to put threes in as a competitive game mode, so it would be hard for me to make a prediction of them to start that, Since I could no longer predict the future of Esports, I decided to try to go into the present prize pools to show the increased amount of money flow in Esports. Something I found surprising while researching Esports was that League of Legends makes $18 million dollars every five days while Dota 2 makes $18 million every month, but the prize pools for the world competitions grant Dota 2 players more money than League of Legends. | thought this was surprising set League makes so much more money they should be giving it back to the people that earn them so much money, but Dota 2 is actually the game that ives back to its players the most. I leamed some more about the changes of Esports through a very unsuspecting source.Vice is a TV show by HBO that shows all the craziest things in the world that the media ‘would never let you see, Last year they did a documentary on the worlds competition and they showed me a whole new element to the game, cosplay. Every year people would spend hours ‘working on costumes ideas, developing them, and then going out and dressing up for their ‘League of Legends events, Some cosplayers have even developed competitive teams to support the Esports movement and will show up at every large event drawing in fans to view the games. I didn’t consider this important initially, but after watching the documentary, I discovered that many people really enjoy this aspect of fantasy and will always have this be a part of their viewing experience. Initially I didn’t think a video would be able to help out my research, but it actually has helped me out the most. | had no idea about the cosplay scene in League of Legends, but after viewing that documentary, I now feel that videos could help me out a lot in the final product.
