The author of Shitty First Drafts is Anne Lamott. Lamott is very frustrated at
the fact that people think authors can write the perfect first draft with ease. She agrees
that the first draft is the hardest and may make the least sense. Her audience is anyone
who has tried to write anything at all, while she reaches out to all the fans that are waiting
for their favorite authors new book to come out. Lamotts purpose for writing this article
is to reassure writers that everyone has bad drafts, even the professionals, and thats okay.
I believe that she is trying to encourage us to continue writing on the bad days and to
never lose hope, making this a very effective article and an excellent motivator.
