Title: Will robots make

our lives better or
worse?

ANNOTATION
The author wrote about how robotics and technology affected
the workplace. He talked about how technologies have made
life easier and how technologies have made some human
workers lose their jobs. He also referred to the industrial
revolution and how it affected the factory workers. He believes
that there will be another revolution in the modern era that will
make robotics integrate into all factory work. He also believes
that the revolution will eliminate many jobs and hurt the job
economy. He also believes that many workers are going to be
replaced with more efficient robots. DeLong thinks that robots
will slowly take over all job and make human labor less
desirable.

products that we use every day. He talked about how most
products are created by industrial robots. He talked about how

He believes that the robots have a huge future and it can expand

THOUGHTS
This article helped me understand how
robotics is going to eliminate jobs. It also
gives insight into the negative aspect of the
implementation of robotics. Also, the author
discusses how many people will be put out
of work and forced to learn new careers,
because they do not have any prior skills to
the job. Consequently, causing the
unemployment rate to go up.

This article tells me the opposite of the first

article. It explains how the job market will
go up because the robots will require
maintenance and programming. He explains
how the world will only benefit from the
implementation of robots. The author also
states how there would be more demand for
students who learn about the new
technology. Because they will help maintain
the efficiency of the robot. They all will
create new robots that can change the world.

Title: Will Robots

Create New Jobs
When They Take
Over Existing
Ones?

The author explains how the tool wont be used to replace

workers because these robots will be used to do minimal jobs.
He also states that the robots will become more of a tool rather
than an independent worker. He also the robot will be used jobs
that is usually not preferred by humans. The article explains it
will only replace the jobs that many people quit quickly. Even
then it will be used as a tool and an accessory for their job. The
article states from a study done by the International Federation
of Robotics showed that the job demand has not come down
since the increase of the use of industrial robotics. In fact, the
use of robotics have increased demand for jobs.

This author helps support the argument in

article 2. He state that the robot will not be a
replacement. Rather a tool to help them
develop their work. He explains how the
world will only benefit from the
implementation of robots. The author also
states how there would be more demand for

Title: Do industrial
robots really have a
positive impact on
employment?

The deployment of robots into a factory situation involves

even more complex computations and assumptions, which is
why the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) assigned
the UK-based research firm Metra Martech in 2009 to figure
out how to compute the effect on jobs of the deployment of
industrial robots. The IFR annually collects, reports on
shipments and sales, computes robots at work and makes fiveyear sales and deployment projections of industrial and
service robots worldwide.

Ultimately, we need a new, individualized, cultural, approach to

the meaning of work and the purpose of life. Otherwise, people
will find a solution human beings always do but it may not be
