The reason why I chose my Memoir Essay because, I got to live one of my dreams and I am

excited to talk about it.In the beginning of 2014, I went to Mexico. I planned to go for three
months, but after having so much fun, I changed my plane ticket a few times. I ended up
extending my trip for three more months. I left January 8, 2015 from Salt Lake City, UT and
arrived in Tecoman, Colima, Mexico. The town I grew up in. I decided to go out to Mexico after
working 70+ hours a week and going to school part time, which resulted into quitting my job and
having the most epic trip. I had saved up for a few months and I was so excited. I was able now
to go too Mexico and visit friends, live on the beach, read a carry-on bag full of books, sleep in a
tent, surf everyday, and travel around Mexico. This would be a great reward for me because, I
believe: In life, it isn't all just about just work. In order to go on my ideal trip, I had to quit my
job of three years, pay bills in advance, and move my belongings to my mothers. Despite all the
emotions going on, to make this trip more exciting. I decided to take one online class, while
traveling. I chose writing because I thought it would be a good class to take while traveling, and I
can write about memories about my trip. Traveling has made me the person who I am today
because of the memories I've experiences and people I have met. Now Im here to tell you my
story.
In the mornings Id surf and when its over, Ill go eat with friends at a restaurant called Tsunami,
a restaurant connecting with the hotel. There was not much to do when the surf is over. Other
travelers would lay on a hammock, read, drink and talk with locals, or play games. After the surf
is done, at times I will go back in town and visit my dad. There is a bus schedule that runs into
town. It town i would buy some tequila or some beer and surprise my dad. Some nights I would
stay at his house, where we drink and talk all night. Me and my dad has had memorable
moments. For example, I would help my dad run his photography business. Ill help him take
pictures at weddings and other events. It was great working with my dad because we don't see
each other often, and its something we both like doing. He always tells me and motives me to be
my own boss, in anything I want too do. When we arent out working, and in the store, I will do
homework, since there isn't any wifi at the beach.
Few months go by of surfing and hanging out with friends. I decided to take a mini vacation
from surfing. For years, my grandpa who lives in Mexico City, has always asked me to go visit
him, so he can show me around town. I always said no because, I would rather be at the beach
with friends instead. Now that I was older I wanted to explore more. I decided to go too Mexico
City. Me and my dad took a bus to Mexico City to visit my grandpa. Our first night in Mexico
City my grandpa took us out to eat street tacos. These were unfamiliar tacos Ive ever seen. I was
use to eating the taco from Colima. I got a few tacos called La Gringa; pineapple, cheese, and
meat. The tacos were so good, very different from what I was used to. The cities were so huge,
mountains full of houses, freeways everywhere, traffic was busy. I got to meet my dads friend
named Danielle, a friend he grew up with, who lives across the street. Later after meeting my
dads friend. We went out to a rock bar, which was a lot of fun. Next morning we wake up pretty
hung over from the previous night. Thats ok though, because we were going to continue the
adventure. My grandpa and Danielle took me and my dad, to go see the pyramids in Teotihuacan.
Few days later past, and my dad needs to return back to work. I told my dad, I will stay here with
with grandpa a few more days longer. I still want to go too the art museum, where my favorite
artist Salvador Dali, has art work. He said, Ok, be careful.

After having a tough time between working and going to school. I took a trip that changed my
life for the better. I got a break from the rat race, and lived. I got to surf, eat different types of
food, meet new people, new places, visit friends and family. This trip shaped me to who I am
today. Life isn't always about work.
My second essay I decided to do was the Evaluation essay because, I have surfed many different
waves and been to many places. I am always giving evaluations on different surf spots and
telling others about these places I've been to. I want my audience to know exactly about the
place I'm talking about, with clarity. This essay helped me how to deliver an evaluation essay. I
knew this assignment would be tricky, because I'm evaluating surf spots I've been to. My favorite
surf spots are unknown, and its hard to get any information on the website for any resources. But
I liked the challenge because it required me to think differently, how am i going to get my
resources? I did my best, and I enjoyed this assignment.
Surfing in Mexico. At some point in a surfers life, they will want to challenge their surf
skills. Surfing in Pascuales gives you the chance to improve your surfing game. You will be
challenged mentally and physically. The rewards are worth it after nailing the biggest barrel of
your life! If you plan on going to Pascuales, I wrote down below a few things you may need to
know, before going.
Pascuales is in the state of Colima, on Mexicos central Pacific Ocean Coast. Boca de Pascuales
is a popular surfing spot that many surfers from all over the world come to. Pascuales is a
powerful sand beach break, it is known for its heavy huge barrels and the sun hotter than an
oven. The beach is usually crowded, surfers should be careful. If you plan on coming here to
learn, you will be disappointed, and maybe get laughed at. Pascuales is for experienced surfers.
Even the pros who come here get scared.
If this spot is calling your name or if you are willing to take your game to the next level, there is
a hotel in the heart of Pascuales called, Hotel De Pascuales where you can stay. You can rent a
room for a day as low as $15, most rooms have a beach view. Also, if you don't want to spend
that much on a room, you can camp on the camp site for $3. This will help at the end, if you plan
on staying longer.
The food is delicious. Along the beach there is many restaurants where you can eat. Also for a
cheap price. If you want seafood, I recommend going to, La Bruja. If you and friends want to go
get delicious alcohol drinks, then I recommend going to, Las Hamacas. According to Lonely
Planet, The two-level restaurant seats 1000 people and is open every day of the year. Strolling
mariachis entertain the crowd, and a swimming pool keeps the kids busy. (lonelyplanet.com)
If you don't want to leave the beach that is ok, there is a restaurant attached to the hotel of
Pascuales called- Tsunami. Tsunami has hamburgers, fruit yogurts, torta (Mexican sandwich),
fish, shakes and many more delicious things. Many of the locals are nice people, they will talk to
you and get to know you, very nice people. If you are nice to them, maybe they will take you
into town and you can get some tacos. The tacos were my favorite. I had some tacos from the

taco stand, they were little tacos, the tortillas are hot doughy and chewy, with steak meat, then
with some hot sauce. Very delicious.
How to get to Pascuales? It depends on how much you are willing to pay. If you don't want to
pay much and willing to travel a little longer, fly into Guadalajara, Jalisco. If you can book in
few months in advance you can get a ticket roughly around $400-$500. You will then have to
take a bus to Tecoman. A bus ticket is usually $30, and the travel time is 4 hours. If you wiling to
pay any amount for a ticket, and get there a lot sooner, fly into Manzanillo, Colima, its about 40
minutes away from Pascuales. A ticket to Manzanillo usually runs about $700-$800 dollar
booked in advance. You will then have to take a taxi to Tecoman.
Pascuales is a world class wave with its heavy barrels. It attracts a lot of experience surfers to
take there game to the next level. If you like big heavy barrels this spot is ideal for you. People
who come to Pascuales are usually return surfers, because they fall in love with the waves. I
challenge you to book your ticket and start hitting some barrels.
