To Whom it May Concern:
Itis my pleasure to be writing a letter of recommendation for Jeanna Lanza. | was Jeanna’s cooperating
teacher for 13 weeks in first grade at Tahoe Lake Elementary. During this time, Jeanna was was almost
solely responsible for teaching the Next Generation Science Standards and the Second Step Social
Emotional Learning Program. She took over all responsibilities of the first grade curriculum during her
tenure including Language Arts, English Language Development, Math, and Social Studies.
Jeanna is an extremely hard worker with a strong work ethic. During her student teaching experience,
she was highly motivated to learn as much as she could and perform to her best capacity. She
frequently putin extra time to develop lesson plans and monitor student progress. She asked for
feedback and accepted constructive criticism with maturity and grace. She would immediately adjust
her teaching strategies as needed. Jeanna has successfully demonstrated her awareness of different
ning styles and has been able to tailor assignments to meet the varied needs of the students, She
thoroughly planned and implemented units of study with creativity and enthusiasm. Jeanna was also
successful in monitoring and adjusting to various, oftentimes last minute, schedule changes.
Jeanna’s experience in Language Arts included teaching a narrative writing workshop unit of Small
Moments. During this time she successfully launched and concluded the unit in which the children
were able to complete 3 - § different four page narrative writing assignments. They learned the
strategies and skills to stretch out their stories over four pages. She was able to inspire the students
with well planned lessons which motivated and encouraged the children as writers, all the while
differentiating for different levels of proficiency. She taught beginning reading skills, comprehension
strategies, phonics, and she planned for and led reading groups. Jeanna helped to introduce and
‘implement Daily 5 into the classroom routine. She regularly integrates technology into instruction in
meaningful and engaging ways.
Jeanna is a positive and enthusiastic teacher. She has a strong rapport with the students she works
with. She has a genuine love and respect for the children in the class, and they have responded well to
her. She possesses natural time management skill and can run the class with ease.
1am confident Jeanna Lanza will bean asset to any school she works with. She is confident,
knowledgeable, and resourceful. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
Respectfully submitted,
