KKS CODING CCPP

1.0

Introduction
For the subject Project, it was decided to have a KKS coding system and
accordingly, TPL has submitted the following:
a) TPL-036-510-SK-0001(Ro)
b) KKS coding write up
PGPL have gone through the same and also the P&IDs submitted which
also includes vendor specific systems like Air-cooled Condenser and HRSG.

Discussions

2.1

The symbols mentioned by TPL in drawing no. TPL-036-510-SK-001 is not

correct as per KKS System. Line and valve designation is based on KKS
standard and Instrument legend is based on ISA standard. A marriage of
KKS &ISA is a certain confusion while implementing in DCS. TPL should
follow KKS system in all respects. TPL should insist other vendors (Third
party PLC IO tag names and signals interfaced with DCS) to implement
KKS coding to avoid delay / confusion during signal assignment and
troubleshooting during normal operation.

2.2

The letters H, HH, L & LL are added to the measured variables in the
legend and symbol drawing is no way near the KKS system. Signals used
for Closed loop Control, Alarm and Trip will be specified clearly by KKS
system in PID.

2.3

Instrument symbols like PG, TE, TG, FT, DP mentioned in PIDs submitted by
TPL are not correct as per KKS system. Primary measurement (LI, TI, FI, PI)
with suitable application to be shown in PID.

Eg: Condensate Storage tank of the ACC has four level measurements
(level indicator-1 No, Level transmitters 3 Nos.). The tagging of these
instruments as per KKS system is as follows.

Level indicator
Level Transmitters

2.4

PGPL insists TPL to follow the correct KKS system in all PIDs
(HRSG, STG, ELEC, BOP and other MISC systems) at the earliest to

avoid delay in project engineering. All the Instrument tag

extensions (XXXX_XB01, XXXX_XB02, etc.) should be in line with
KKS before submitting to DCS vendor.
The tag names and circuit notations made by TPL in PIDs of ACC,
HRSG and STG to be modified as per KKS system.
