1.Fig. 1 shows a typical sharp yielding stress- strain curve of
1S:2062 steel. Write down the strain values at points
a,b,c,d,e and also fy and fu values.

2. Find the gross section tensile strength of the flat 100 x 6
mm shown in Fig.2. Assume !S:2062 Steel of class 410A.

3. Find the net section tensile strength of the flat 100 x 6
mm shown in Fig.3 if the hole diameter is 24mm. Assume
1S:2062 Steel class 410A.ssa era

4. The following is the generalized Von Mises yield criterion
equation for three dimensional state of stress which is
based on the distortional energy theory of failure. Derive
the failure criterion for (1) uniaxial tension in the x- drn (2)
pure shear in the x-y plane (3) uniaxial tension in x-dirn_+
pure shear in the x-y plane. fy is the yield stress of steel.

5. Calculate the tributary loads coming on the columns and
beams for the first floor of a building, the plan of which is
given in Fig.4. Hint: Group the beams and columns that
have equal loads.
