Student Name: Antoinette De Alba

Date: 11/20/2015
Portfolio Artifact Description: Wheel O' Fortune Spreadsheet - Using Excel to create a spreadsheets
showing total number and percentage out of a whole amount and display a graphic/chart format.
What you learned: I learned how to apply one formula to other cells in the document. It took me
probably about 20 minutes to find the edit section in Excel basically because it is the last thing on the
home tab. For some reason I didnt go all the way down the list. Not sure why. It is a very small section
and because of that, I continued down through each tab playing with different things until I started back at
the tab section and the second time I found the edit section.
National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS)S Addressed: #3 Students apply
digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.
Application of Skills Learned for the Future: I believe Excel would be a great tool for students to work
on their math skills. Using Excel as a calculator to explore what mathematical equations can tell us about
how the real world works would be very useful for students. Statistical breakdown would be a huge part in
using excel in the classroom. Students could study their math homework with an Excel spreadsheet to
show them the answers if they got it wrong. I still have a lot of research to do so that I may find more uses
in the classroom for the students to use but one thing I know for sure is that it can be hugely beneficial to
students as a visual aid when creating a chart and/or graph.
