In 21st century education system, technology is one of the most useful and

beneficial tools to support learning of students, at the same time social media and
internet issues become more challenging cases for teachers, especially the usage of
YouTube. Every district has Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) which generally said
about using internet access for educational use only, but not for bullying, and any
criminal activities. Therefore, most districts limit the usage of internet access and
block inappropriate websites so teachers have less worry in this situation.
However, it is not the case in using YouTube. The school could not do blocking or
limiting the usage of YouTube. Most teachers use YouTube as visual learning tool
to give students the best visual aid for their lesson plans, however; they have to be
very careful when they search the materials they need to show students. The
challenge that teachers face using YouTube is that it gives unlimited suggestions
when searching for something they want. Those suggestions could be inappropriate
videos for students since there is no limit. Therefore, the best thing to do when
using YouTube is that avoiding searching and, doing copy paste the link instead.
Cyberbullying happens when kids bully each other through electronic
technology. Cyberbullying might not be serious concern for the lower grades, but it
is serious concern for older grades for those who have cell phones and know how
to text. Since it is impossible for adults to be around the children all the time,
cyberbullying can be happened even in a second. All we can do is to control and
supervise them when students are under our eyes. Therefore, I think that this case
is challenging for teachers. Another best way to prevent cyberbullying is that when
cyberbullying happens, it is important to document and report the behavior so it
can be addressed. Installing control filtering software or monitoring programs is
one option for monitoring your childs online behavior, but we could not rely

solely on these tools therefore, teachers have to be very careful and know the sites
students visit and their online activities.
Teachers have to give information about copyright laws and regulation and
explain the students until they understand. Copying and pasting are very popular
among students and sometimes the case is out of control. For teachers, they have to
be very careful and precise when they check students assignment. It is difficult to
know copying and pasting, however; teachers have to prevent this matter by
explain what students should do when they are trying to include somebody elses
work and ideas. Students have to have clear information that they have to address
the link and resource when they take other works. Students also need to have a
clear understanding of what they read and to refer the source to support the idea
they have developed.
