Appropriate Activities for School Counselors:
- Individual student planning - Interpreting cognitive, aptitude, and achievement tests - Provide counseling to students for: tardiness/absence/truancy, disciplinary issues, appropriate school dress - Collaborating with teachers to present core curriculum lessons - Analyzing GPA in relationship to achievement - Interpreting student records - Providing classroom management suggestions - Ensuring student records are maintained as per state and federal regulation - Help the administration identify and resolve student issues, needs, and problems - Provide individual small-group counseling services to students - Advocating for students at individual education plan meetings, student study teams, and school attendance review boards - Analyzing disaggregated data
