Introduction
Examining the feasibility of adding a second
weight room to the Hamline University
Focusing on the following factors, we
researched whether or not Hamline University
should invest into a second weight room.

Space available
Student interest
Fiscal efficiency
Physical and mental health benefits.

criteria
Is the construction of a new weight room
affordable?
Will the second weight room solve the issue of
not having enough space for every student?
Will the majority of the school be in favor of
adding a second weight room?
Will the new weight room lead to better
health, as well as better all around athletics
for Hamline University?

methods
Conducted a survey to Dr. Sorias 9:10 class
in which 16 students participated.
Compared the overall well-being of students on
other campus

Researched other field houses from schools in

the M.I.A.C.
Compared the size of each field house to
Hamlines
Compared athletic success of schools with
larger field houses compared to Hamlines

Conclusion
Hamline University is continuing to grow year
after year, which is even more reason to build
a new gym for the growing University.
Students that exercise more on a regular
basis more often than not have a higher GPA
than students that dont workout.

Recommendations
The demand for a second weight room is in
reach.
We concluded that the best space to put a
new gym would be in the open space in Sorin
Hall.
The costs for new exercise equipment would
be between $50,000-$100,000.
Funds would be collected and created through
Alumni and Hamline Student Athlete Advisory
Committee.
