First flowed Wind and Water,

Ancient among still stone.

Each ate away at endless Earth,
Inch by inch plowed pure space.
Journeys joined, paired in possession of
Manic motion and wandering will,
Both bearing two tremendous traits of
Agency: ability and impetus to act.
Thus the whispering and weak
Transformed to towering titans,
Weaving with will through thriving
Silence. Sounds set the world to waking.
Woken, will aside from Water and Wind
Roamed ravines, carefully carved,
Observing only emptiness.
Vanquishing vacancy eroded Earth
Grew great flora and fauna.
Forming, falling, flying,
Swimming, slithering, swaying.
Absence erased as abundance abounded.
Suddenly silence ceased.
Once waged, wars are never won.
Aggressive actors over eons
Repeatedly raze opposing efforts,
Destruction developing opportunities in absence.
What one discovers possible proliferates.
So when woken Earth annexes absence
Wind and Water slowly sweep, reclaiming ravines.
And Earth again sprouts splendid creatures,
Creating propagating presence.
Time ticks, tables turn, triumph trumped
Flails fighting failure. Wind and Water
Exist, eternally Earths enemies.
Forces form balance bought at compounding cost;
Each existence is itself a destruction of potential.
