Starbucks Is Adding Drive-Thru Video Screens to Improve Service
Starbucks is adding video screens to 2,400 cafe drive thrus, to improve barista and
customer relations. This gives the customer a more in store experience as the driver is able to see
the barista when ordering their products. Allowing for better communication as the customer can
see the order on the screen as well as the barista. Starbucks is changing a decades old ordering
system by adding this new innovating technology.
The article continues to talk about Starbucks advances with technology as it raises
revenues. 20 percent of payments are now made from Starbucks mobile apps and has about 10.4
million active rewards members in the United States.
Starbucks has also decided to make Gerri Martin-Flickinger newly appointed chief
technology officer. Ending her career at Adobe Systems, Martin-Flickinger will be in charge of
the IT management and will report to Kevin Johnson, Starbucks president and chief operating
officer.
