ALEC 616 - Evaluation Summary Texas A&M University - Sloan PEM Mentoring Towards Success in Research and Leadership LC ‘Summary of Results of Seminar: A total of 15 evaluations were collected atthe end of the leadership facilitation on 11/9/2013. The results are summarized in terms ofthe three primary components ofthe evaluation: (1) objectives, (2} Facilitator Role, and (3) Reflective Questions Objectives Overall, most participants tend to agree or strong agree on the primary objectives of the facilitation which include a greater understanding and comfort of their identities. Some noted they tend to disagree on theit ‘comfort with their identities and the overall ability to identify their personal and privileged identities, Facilitator Role Overall, the participants tend to agree to strongly agree on the questions related tothe facilitator roles of ‘creating a space for learning, involvement and effectiveness. One area that several participants noted was the facilitator didnot share personally with the participants, Reflective Questions The main learning o insight rom the evaluation stem from the reflective questions ofthe participants, Some participants wrote ideas robusly while others did not write much, Overall, theme of the earning was they ‘were unaware of one component or another oftheir identity and how it may add or detract from their power in a U.S. Context. Some identitied their identities as being a block or hindering connections with other graduate students. One student mentioned their rural background and being of a diverse ethic identity asa block, ‘A couple of the suggestions fer improving connection with college is for faculty to better understand how their individual identities or culture may impact their desire for participation, Some students also shared that they hid aspects oftheir identity because some faculty/department sta have previously undermined theit identity, One ‘ey point was tha a student shared they have no desire share identity or having these discussions in thet
