Iu the novel The Cloch*ork Orunge, the main character Alex age is not given to us the
readers directly. That being said, we cao have an idea of how old he is. Reading through this

novel, I have a ssrious thought that Alex is around the age of 15 or 16..The first bit of evidenoe
have is that for starters, he is still in school. So he should be no older than 18. The next bit

of

evidence is that there is references of "Correction Schools", which leads me to believe he is a

minor somewhere between 15 and 17. Finally in the frst bit of reading that we did, we find that
he drive the 95-durango from the cinema. Which makes me believe that he is around 15-16.

Alex does seem very childish to ms at times like in the reading where he talks to the guy
from the Correction School, P. R. Deltoid. When we read we se that Deltoid is being very
serious on the matter but then he said things like after reading his thoughts he says,

am serious

with you, brothers, over this. But what I do I do because I like to do.'{29) This shows me a bit of
immutatriy and rebellion of what he knows he should be doing. Other actions that he does like

just fake smiling at people like he did to Mr. Deltoid. Also when his father told Alex the dream
he had about Alex getting boat up layrng in his own pool of blood. But Alex gives

off an

impression of him saying, that won't happento him. His childishness creates his ignorance

to bit him in the butt.
