Dear Judges:
My name is Kendall Securro and I am a 17 year old Junior attending St. James High School. In
my first three years of high school, I have enjoyed learning with some of the best teachers in the
state. I am a junior in Mrs. DeBocks English 4 Honors class this first semester. Next year will
be my senior year, and I am greatly looking forward to the new challenges I will be faced with as
I continue both in schooling and in life.
My motivation for researching laparoscopic surgery stems from my dad who has played a large
role in helping me determine my path as I grow up. He is a hospital administrator at Conway
Medical Center and has always advocated support for healthcare careers. Also, growing up I
always loved technology and gadgets, so I decided to combine my two favorite things in life and
research a technology that is helping the healthcare community.
The process of researching and creating my Senior Exploration Project was fairly easy. There
was no shortage of medical journals or studies done on laparoscopic surgery and other
technologies that allowed me to easily acquire information. The best part of the process was
getting to contact members of Tidelands Health and schedule my shadowing. Everyone I spoke
to and worked with was knowledgeable and more than willing to help.
