Essential Question: What are the parts of a book?
Work Session
(Guided Teaching of New Content)

First, I will start off the lesson by showing the students the book I am going to read.
Next, I will ask the students if they know what a front cover, back cover, and a title page are.
I will then explain to them the three parts of a book while showing them the front cover, back
cover, and title page.
Independent practice- after reading the story, the students will draw a picture in their journal of
the three parts of a book. They will then have to label the three parts of a book.

Book, Journal

Assessment
I will call on the students individually and ask if they can tell me what are the parts of a book?
They will have to draw the three parts of a book in their journal and will have to label them.
