I think the purpose of any function regardless if its in math or life is to see what works
and what doesnt. Like in a math problem, a function can be a little bit complicated at times
because of solving an equation. The word function is what it sounds like, to me it is how
something works and its ability to function the way it is supposed to. Like we talked about in
class functions can only have one solution. If it has more than one solution then it is not a
function. And how it relates to real life can be a bit different but also similar in many ways. In
life, for every problem we as humans face, there is always a solution to a problem and a way to
solve it. Usually there is only one way to solve one of lifes problems the right way and a lot of
times there arent more than one way to fix a problem or to have a solution to a problem in life. I
think another one of the purposes of a function is to know exactly what works and what doesnt
so you arent wasting any time looking for more than one answer to a problem. Learning how to
deal with functions in math at first when I seen a picture of a number and how it can equal
another number but cant have more than one answer for that number was pretty cool to see. It
was also cool to see how and why it worked that way. For example if you were to take an exam
on a scantron sheet because the test is multiple choice then you would have to pick the best
answer that you think is right for the question you are being asked. For each question there can
only be one answer (A, B, C, D or E), but, you can answer a certain letter for multiple questions.
Meaning that in many cases multiple number of questions can end up resulting in the same letter
answer but cant have more than one answer to a single question. Overall, even though math has

a lot of numbers that some people think are not important in life, sure, they may be right about
that part but the lessons behind the use of the numbers can still teach a student the obvious truths
about life and the way things work from a mathematical point of view.
